Golf in the Algarve

The Algarve boasts some of the best golf courses in Europe. If you regularly practice this sport, or would simply like to try the feeling, you can visit one of the many courses. Here are some of them: Salgados (Salgados Beach); Golf Balaia (Albufeira); Vilamoura has some of the best golf courses, such as the Old Course, Pinha, Laguna, Millennium, Vitória; in Carvoeiro area you can find Gramacho course and Vale da Quinta; Silves golf course; Portimão area has the Morgado course, Parque da Floresta and Boavista couses.

 

Algarve for children

All over the Algarve you will find several attractions that will give you the guarantee of a good day out. Nature in the Algarve

The Ria Formosa Park is one of the most beautiful natural resources and protected areas of the Algarve, due to the variety of its ecosystems and singular location. With an extension of over 60kms, this incredible natural paradise starts in Ancão area (along the Vale de Lobo and Quinta do Lago) and ends in Manta Rota (nearVila Real de Santo António). It works as a shelter for migratory birds and rare species.

There are many areas worth exploring for those who enjoy hiking. A good starting point is the Environmental Education Center of Marim, Olhão, where there are organized easy hikes with a nature guide, and where you will meet the enormous variety of environments that exist in the Ria Formosa, such as salinas, freshwater ponds, Roman ruins, tide mill, etc.

 

Surf in the Algarve

Why not try this popular sport? The Algarve has several certified surf schools that can give yourself or your kids, fun lessons in which your body learns to master the waves of the sea. SAGRES is one of the most popular areas in the world for the practice of this sport. In Faro area, more specifically on the island of Faro, you can also contact with the Nautical Centre that offers surf and windsurfing lessons, as well as the possibility of seing the beautiful Ria Formosa as never before.. Kayaking!

Boat Trips in the Algarve

There is no doubt that it is through a boat trip that you get to know some of the most beautiful landscapes of the Algarve coast. There are stunning caves that are only accessible through this means, there are trips to see dolphins on the coast or boat trips to relax and watch the sunset. On the marinas of Vilamoura and Albufeira you can find several boat trip companies. Lagoa (Carvoeiro) and Lagos are the 2 best areas to do a boat trip as the coast has the most secluded and stunning points. In Lagos, the caves of Ponta da Piedade are famous worldwide for its beauty.

Algarve Inland

Some of the most stunning landscapes and villages are located inthe interior of the Algarve. One of them is Alte, once named one of the Portuguese villages of portugal ". Its peacefull location, nature environment and friendliness of the habitants, make it a hotspot.

It is just 20 minutes away from Loulé, Moorish city with a beautiful moth Arab market.

Enjoy it and visit also the neighbouring Salir town. Enjoy the view around the ruins of the Arab Castle as well as the hospitality of the locals who will give you a taste of the amazing bread, chouriço and medronho. If you go towards the beautiful Monchique mountains, stop in one of the many viewpoints and admire the landscape. 

Algarve Cities

Most of the visitors of the Algarve know its many beaches, but not necessarily the cities.

Beyond the capital, Faro, a city rich in history, scenic beauty and natural (don't miss the Faro Island and the Ria Formosa), we strongly recommend that you visit the cosmopolitan city of Portimao, as well as the tourist centres of Lagos and Albufeira, the cities of Loule, Vila Real de Santo António and Tavira. In Tavira you can visit some of its 37 churches!

Shopping can be a great way to explore the life of a region – the Algarve is no exception. In various locations you can find the most reputable brands, craft items, leather goods, accessories, wines and other popular items.
